๐ŸŽฃ Fishing Skill Tier List (with Reasoning & EV)

๐ŸŸฅ Top Tier

๐Ÿง  Stamana

Effect: Redraw your cards

Why itโ€™s strong:

  • More cards = more damage = more successful catches
  • Redrawing = eliminate misses, find better cards
  • Each level = ~50โ€“150% more damage
  • Indirectly multiplies your chance to hit high-value targets

Verdict: Core to every build. Strong early, strong late. Value: Unmatched consistency and upside.

---

๐ŸŒฟ Weed Dealer

Effect: Increases seaweed gained per fish

Why itโ€™s strong:

  • Highest raw % increase in seaweed gain
  • Scales extremely well with Dual Yielding and high catch counts
  • Depends heavily on rounding mechanics:
    • If rounding down: [1.63% โ†’ 50.00%] gain
    • If rounding up: [13.63% โ†’ 50.00%] gain

EV: 0.4218 Verdict: High-value investment. Potentially broken if rounding favors you. Testing in progress.

๐ŸŸจ High Tier

โš”๏ธ Dual Yielding

Effect: Chance to catch 2 fish

Why itโ€™s strong:

  • Doubles value from:
    • Weed Dealer
    • Luck (for rare fish)
    • Quality 2 fish
    • Jebaitor
    • Gigapengu comps
  • Indirectly speeds up Mastery gain
  • Synergizes with every other major mechanic

EV: 0.1687 Verdict: Incredible scaling and synergy. Core mid- to late-game.

๐ŸŸฆ Mid Tier

๐Ÿ€ Luck

Effect: Chance to increase fish rarity

Why itโ€™s "meh":

  • Only 1.25% chance
  • Less effective as base rarity increases
  • No effect on Giga fish
  • May hurt odds in future comps if they favor commons
  • Helps Mastery for rare fish

EV: 0.1424 Verdict: Synergistic but unreliable. Risky long-term investment.

---

๐ŸŽฃ Jebaitor

Effect: Bonus cast on a catch

Why itโ€™s conditional:

  • Strong if catch rate > 87.5% (better than Dual Yielding)
  • Weak if catch rate < 75% (worse than Luck)
  • Energy cost and second catch requirement hurt consistency
  • Strong potential in competition with DY synergy

EV: < 0.1898 ร— catch rate Verdict: Niche. Strong in optimal builds or comps, but energy-hungry and inconsistent.

๐ŸŸง Low Tier

๐Ÿ”ฎ Fintuition

Effect: % chance to see opponent's next move

Why itโ€™s mixed:

  • 2.5% = once every ~7 casts
  • Can prevent wasted turns and increase reliability
  • Many situations already "solved" with good cards
  • High investment needed to feel useful

Verdict: Interesting for control players, but payoff is too delayed for most builds.

---

๐ŸŽฏ Rod Control

Effect: 2% crit chance for +50% damage

Why it sucks:

  • Only +1% average damage
  • Realistically even lower due to typical miss rates (~0.66%)
  • May actually lose you fish depending on crit behavior on misses

Verdict: Absolute garbage. Always take Stamana instead.

---

๐Ÿ˜– Taste

Effect: Gain extra seaweed on catch

Why itโ€™s broken (in a bad way):

  • Doesnโ€™t scale with Weed Dealer
  • Doesnโ€™t benefit from Tonnoโ€™s +50% days
  • Should scale with DY and Luckโ€”but it doesnโ€™t
  • One upside: may help with faster Mastery levels

EV: 0.0511 Verdict: Feels bugged. Avoid for now.

๐Ÿง  Closing Notes

  • Next Steps: Testing rounding behavior for Weed Dealer
  • Current Meta Build Suggestion: Stamana โ†’ Weed Dealer โ†’ Dual Yielding
  • Future Comp Outlook: Dual Yielding + Jebaitor combo likely to dominate
